McCafe Embraces Hulu

Friday, May 8th, McDonald's brought commercial free viewing for Hulu users by buying every single commercial slot for every single show from 7pm to 3am. Wow. I know this happened a while ago, but I was watching Hulu the other day and noticed that Toyota did something similar. They decided to buy all the slots for everything on the comedy channel to promote their third generation Prius.

I'm writing about this, because it's a sign of progress. McDonald's could have easily bought all the slots and plugged in some crummy 15 second ads for their new coffee. Instead, they took a step back and went in a different direction. It makes me happy to see advertisers moving forward and rethinking their strategies for today's new media.
